Broadway — the glitz and glamour of live theater! A show is written, cast, rehearsed, and then opens to rave reviews. Simple, right? Theater is an ancient and enduring art form that has stood the test of time entertaining millions of audiences, yet often remaining an elusive mystery. For many, that’s perfect! Watch a show, be moved, be entertained! And call it a night. But what if you want a closer seat to all the action?
Are you a theater lover who is convinced you are destined to remain an audience member because you don’t have the “talent”? Do you watch from the sidelines dreaming “‘what if’ I could be a part of that world?”… and then write it off as a ridiculous pipe dream?
While acting, singing, dancing and directing are
crucial skills and the backbone of any production, the theater world is much more intricate and complex than appears to the outside eye. And there are countless unique opportunities for a career in theater that remain an enigma to those who aren’t “in the know”.
Samara Finkle and Clint Kennedy are two professionals in the world of Broadway theater who are here to pull back the curtain and show you what REALLY goes on behind the scenes.
Both work in areas of the industry that are not widely known (Samara in PR & Clint in General Management — What IS that?!) Great question!
Over the years they found themselves regularly explaining the intricacies of their fields and how they contribute to actually getting a theatrical production to opening night (and beyond). A strong PR rep or a good management company are crucial components to a show’s failure or success! And people found it FASCINATING. This opened the door to larger conversations about other jobs behind the scenes.
And then it clicked — there is a NEED that is not being filled by all the wonderful artistic Masterclasses on singing, dancing, and directing! While those Classes are fantastic and important, there is so much more to learn in the world of theatre. Kennedy and Finkle are passionate about breaking down those barriers to educate people and show that you CAN have a career in theatre, even if your strongest skills are not traditionally associated with the theatre. They created specific CLASSES to answer these questions and provide further insight into everything that people do not even realize leads to a successful theater production
